Ines Derrien Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

LOS ANGELES – After helping to lead the No. 9 USC women's soccer team to a 2-0 week on the road in Illinois, including scoring the game-winner at Northwestern, Ines Derrien was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 15).
Derrien's second-half penalty kick against the Wildcats was her first collegiate goal and helped seal a 2-1 victory for the Trojans. She also played 31 minutes and recorded two shots in a win at Illinois to start the road trip. The two victories helped keep USC unbeaten in Big Ten play and tied atop the conference standings.
The freshman midfielder has appeared in all 14 matches this season, making three starts and recording an assist prior to her first goal this week.
The Trojans host a pair of Top 25 matchups this week, facing off against No. 15 Ohio State on Thursday night at BMO Stadium and taking on No. 16 Penn State on Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park. The contest at BMO Stadium is free and open to the public, with fans able to reserve their free tickets here.
