USC Women's Soccer Blanks New Mexico State, 3-0

LOS ANGELES – The USC women's soccer team posted its third shutout at home and got goals from three different players in a 3-0 win over New Mexico State on Thursday afternoon.
It was the Trojans' final nonconference matchup of the season as USC moves to 4-2 on the year. New Mexico State falls to 3-5-1.
The Trojans came out firing in the first half, putting up two goals in the span of less than two minutes midway through the period. Helena Sampaio finished off a beautiful give-and-go sequence for USC's first strike in the 27th minute. That was followed by Maribel Flores striking in the 28th minute.
Kayla Colbert netted USC's third goal, finishing a cross from Flores in the 76th minute.
USC outshot the Aggies 14-7 in the game, holding the visitors without a shot in the opening half. Hannah Dickinson made three saves in the game and picked up the victory.
GOALS
27' – USC: Helena Sampaio (assisted by Maribel Flores, Izzy Kimberly) – Kimberly and Flores played a give and go into the area, and Flores slid a pass across the face of goal for Sampaio who tapped it in.
28' – USC: Maribel Flores (assisted by Brooklyn Courtnall) – Courtnall slid a pass forward and Flores carried it into the box, sending a shot past the keeper and inside the far-right post.
76' – USC: Kayla Colbert (assisted by Maribel Flores, Simi Awujo) – Awujo slid a pass out wide on the right to Flores and Flores sent a cross into Colbert, who collected and fired a shot inside the right post.

The Trojans open Pac-12 play on the road next week, heading to Utah for the conference opener on Friday at 6 p.m.
