Allie Jones Currently 8th In The Heptathlon And Four Trojans Advance To Semifinals At USATF Championships

Allie Jones is in eighth place in the heptathlon and Williams Jones advanced to the men's 400m semifinal during the first day of the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (July 6). In addition, former USC runners Kendall Ellis (W-400m), Isaiah Jewett (M-800m) and TeeTee Terry (W-100m) advanced to event semifinals tomorrow.

Allie Jones got things started for the Trojans and sits in eighth place after the first four events in the heptathlon with a score of 3554 points. She placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.18 (+1.5) to earn 1097 points, 16^th in the high jump with a clearance of 5-4.25 (1.63m) to earn 771 points, 12^th in the shot put with a best mark of 39-4.50 (12.00m) to earn 661 points and second in the 200m with a time of 23.54 (-0.2) to earn 1025 points.
William Jones placed fourth in his men's 400m heat with a time of 45.73 and had to await the results of all the heats to see if he would advance. He ended up earning the third-fastest non-automatic qualifying time and advanced 14^th to the semifinal tomorrow.
Isaiah Jewett (USC, 2021) won his men's 800m heat and qualified third overall to tomorrow's semifinal with a time of 1:46.55.
TeeTee Terry (USC, 2021) placed third in her 100m dash heat and qualified eighth to the women's 100m dash semifinal tomorrow.
Kendall Ellis (USC, 2018) took fifth in her women's 400m heat and qualified 13^th to the event semifinal tomorrow.

Other Trojans expected to be competing tomorrow at the USATF Outdoor Championships include Nia Ali (W-100m H), Rai Benjamin (M-400m H), Anna Cockrell (W-400m H) and Dalilah Muhammad (W-400m H). Among the current Trojans expected to be competing at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships tomorrow are Darius Rainey (M-800m) and Lauren Reed (W-TJ),
