USC Baseball Falls to Washington in Pac-12 Tournament

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The USC baseball team fell in its second game of pool play on Thursday afternoon, losing 8-3 to Washington. The Trojans are eliminated from Pac-12 Tournament play after Oregon beat Stanford in the night game.
The Trojans fall to 34-23-1 overall, while Washington moves to 34-17. USC is far from finished, however, as the Trojans take a strong case for an at-large bid into selection Monday. USC won 34 games overall this year, including 17 in Pac-12 play, 10-of-14 weekend series and 7-of-10 Pac-12 series on the season. USC's 4th place finish in the Pac-12 was its best since 2015 and greatly outpaced the Trojans' predicted preseason finish of 10th.
USC had its chances, loading the bases in the seventh and eighth innings, but came away with just one run in those two frames and then gave up four in the bottom of the eighth.
After falling behind 3-0, USC made it a one-run game with a pair of runs on a single by Johnny Olmstead in the sixth. That was as close as the Trojans would come, however.
