USC's Caden Aoki Named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week

LOS ANGELES – USC baseball pitcher Caden Aoki was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after tossing a masterful 8.0 scoreless inning performance on Saturday night against Arizona State.
Aoki allowed just three hits and walked none in his 8.0 innings, leading the Trojans to a 2-0 Saturday victory and eventual series sweep of the Sun Devils.
The Trojan righty allowed just one runner past first base in the game, stranding a man on third in the third inning. Aoki needed just 95 pitches to get through his 8.0 scoreless frames, helping USC shut out ASU in just over two hours.
On the season, Aoki owns a 2.04 ERA and 4-1 record on the mound. He has allowed more than one run just once since his first Pac-12 start back on March 18 at Cal, and has three starts with 5.0 innings or more and no runs allowed. The 8.0 innings he threw on Saturday were a career high.
On the weekend, USC pitching held ASU to two runs on seven hits through 27 innings. Aoki is the third USC pitcher to earn Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors this season, following Tyler Stromsborg (4/3) and Blake Sodersten (5/8).
The Trojans have four more games on the regular-season schedule before the Pac-12 tournament starts next week. The Trojans play at LMU on Tuesday and then head to Arizona for a three-game series starting on Thursday.
