LOS ANGELES, CA --Â Four pitchers combined to throw a shutout on Saturday as the No. 25 USC Trojans blanked San Diego State 7-0, completing a three-game sweep of the Aztecs.
Freshman Eric Hammond (2-2) started and picked up the win for USC (20-10-1), going five shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking two, and striking out five. Senior Garrett Clarke was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit.
In the batter's box, the Trojans were paced by freshman Austin Overn, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Junior Ryan Jackson put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Senior Cole Gabrielson also helped out for USC, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
It was the third sweep fo the season for the Trojans and the 15th win in their last 18 games. USC has won five straight series dating back to the start of Pac-12 play.
