LOS ANGELES, CA -- The No. 25 USC baseball team powered its way past the San Diego State Aztecs 12-2 on Thursday, giving the Trojans their 13th win in their last 16 contests.
Junior Tyler Stromsborg (4-1) got the win for USC (18-10-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven. Senior Ethan Hoopingarner also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
In addition to his four hits, Austin Overn had two RBI to lead the Trojans. Senior Johnny Olmstead put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and five RBI. Senior Cole Gabrielson also chipped in for USC, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding three walks and an RBI.
