Mosley wins the women’s hammer throw and Knoll the women’s javelin throw

Summer Mosley won the women's hammer throw and Abbey Knoll the women's javelin throw during the first day of the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. today (April 21).

The junior Mosley won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 187-10 (57.26m). She had the three farthest throws in the competition.
The redshirt sophomore Knoll won the women's javelin throw competition with a PR of 135-3 (41.22m) in her third attempt. She also bettered her previous career best with a mark of 133-11 (40.83m) in the second round. Junior Annabel Doherty placed second with a best throw of 121-2 (36.95m).
Redshirt senior Dylan Lange placed second in the men's javelin throw, tops among collegians, with a throw of 138-2 (42.11m).
Freshman Matteo Mitchell took fifth in the men's hammer throw with a consistent series of throws. His best mark of 178-10 (54.51m) came in his final attempt. Five of his six throws went for 175-6 to 178-10, with three throws of 178-plus.

The Trojan throwers will compete tomorrow in the women's discus throw and shot put competitions, with the action beginning at 1:30 p.m.
