The No. 13 ranked AJGA player decides to stay home, as she signs with the Trojans
LOS ANGELES -Â USC women's golf continues to sign highly touted Rolex All-Americans as Second-Teamer Kylie Chong (Torrance, Calif./Ambassador HS) has signed a national letter of intent, head coach Justin Silverstein announced Thursday, Nov. 9.Â
Â
Chong has been doing numbers for herself, as she earned Rolex All-American Second-Team status in 2023. The Torrance native joins the Trojans as a high-ranking junior golfer, as she is No. 13 in the Rolex AJGA rankings.
Â
"Tiff and I knew that Kylie was an insanely good golfer, but when we started to dive deeper into her recruitment, we saw that she embodied every single attribute we want in our Trojan Student-Athletes," Silverstein said. "On top of being a great golfer, Kylie is very smart, works very hard, and is going to be an amazing teammate during her time here. Kylie is going to excel as an iron player during her college career, which will help her further enhance her game to get ready for the next level."
Â
The Torrance native has several accolades that she brings to the Trojan's table. During the 2023 calendar year, Chong has produced five top-ten finishes in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit. This string of success has been paired with various quality finishes in big-time AJGA tournaments. Chong tied for third at the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic, tied for second at the Girls Junior PGA, tied for third at the AJGA Girls Invitational and even produced a win at the AJGA Junior at Hot Springs.Â
Â
"You wouldn't guess it at first glance from her sweet demeanor, but underneath Kylie's T. Swift-bumping exterior is the ultimate grinder," associate head coach Tiffany Joh said. "We're excited for her to bring that South Bay work ethic into our program."
Â
Chong will join a stacked USC roster that features several products from the Southern California area.Â
Â
"We are happy that Kylie gets to continue the long history of great southern California golfers signing on to play at USC."
