LOS ANGELES – The No. 22 USC women's soccer team fell on the road at No. 2 UCLA on Friday, dropping a 4-1 decision to close the regular season.
The Trojans fall to 10-4-3 overall and 6-2-3 in Pac-12 play. UCLA moves to 16-1-1, 10-0-1.
The Bruins got off to a hot start, getting two goals in the first 20 mins to put USC on its heels. The Trojans responded, however, when Kayla Duran got in front of goal and headed home a set piece to make it a 2-1 game. The one goal deficit only lasted until the 33rd minute, when a UCLA cross went off a Trojan defender and in for an own goal.
USC came out firing in the second half, holding the bulk of possession and creating the majority of the chances, but the Trojans could not break through on the road. UCLA would get a PK in the 81st minute to seal it.
Simone Jackson would pull one back for USC in the 88th minute, but the Trojan s ran out of time to mount a comeback on the road.
