October 22, 2023 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The No. 11 USC women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw on the road at Arizona on Sunday afternoon.
Arizona scored in the opening half and the Trojans scored in the second, as USC moves to 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in Pac-12 play. The Wildcats move to 4-7-5, 1-5-2.
The Wildcats opened the scoring just over a half hour into the match, with Ella Hatteberg scoring off a rebound at the 32nd minute mark.
USC equalized less than 20 minutes into the second half on Maribel Flores' goal set up by a Zoe Burns' takeaway just outside the box.
The goal was the fifth of the season for Maribel Flores – the most goals scored by any freshman in the Pac-12 in 2023.
GOALS
32' – ARIZ: Ella Hatteberg (unassisted) – A shot from distance from Nicole Dallin was saved initially by USC keeper Hannah Dickinson. Hatteberg won the race to the rebound and looped it in for the score.
58' – USC: Maribel Flores (assisted by Zoe Burns) – Burns intercepted an Arizona pass in the Trojan attacking third and slipped a pass over to Flores on the left side at the edge of the box. Flores hit it first time with her left foot, curling it over the keeper inside the far post.
UP NEXT
The Trojans return home to McAlister Field to welcome in the bay schools next week. USC hosts No. 5 Stanford on Thursday and then faces Cal on Sunday.
