USC Men's Golf Ends Day Two of Golf Club of Georgia Intercollegiate

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--The USC men's golf team competed in its second round of the Golf Club of Georgia Intercollegiate on Saturday (Oct.14) at the Lakeside Course at Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga. The Trojans ended the day at 6-over (70+73+75+76+78=294), 4-over for the tournament (286+294=580), in solo eleventh place out of 14 teams, two behind 2-over Pepperdine and 21 back from first place East Tennessee State.

It was Krando Nishiba today who led the Trojans on the course. After a early birdie on the 4th hole, he strung together a run on 4 birdies in 5 holes, totaling 4-under for the day on the par-5's. Nishiba led the team in scoring today, finishing in 2-under (70) and slotting himself in a tie for 12th. He is also 2-under on the tournament.

After a strong first day, Sam Lape stayed steady on his front nine today with a birdie and a bogey, turning at even par. On the back, Lape fought hard but dropped a few shots to finish in 3-over (75) which placed him in a tie for 29th. After a 3-under (69) yesterday, Lape sits at even par after two rounds of play.

Jackson Rivera, who continues to find his stride in his second tournament back, made birdie on two and nine finishing his front at 1-under. He battled on the back, completing the round in a 1-over (73). After a slow day yesterday, Rivera made a jump up the leaderboard to a tie for 46th, at 3-over for the tournament.

Antonio Safa fought hard today, but couldn't quite find his stride. After a strong day yesterday, Safa finished his round at 6-over (78), 5-over for the tournament. He is currently in a tie for 55th and looking to capitalize on the final day of play and get a couple spots back.

Gavin Aurilia followed up his 3-over (75) with a 4-over (76) today. He currently sits in a tie for 64th and hopes to close out the tournament strong with a good round on Sunday.

The Trojans look forward to the final round tomorrow, Sunday (Oct. 15) at the Golf Club of Georgia Intercollegiate. With a strong closing round, the team is poised to move up the leaderboard and take advantage of an early tee time.  Tee times start at 8:50 EST, the Trojans will go out in the third heat of groups alongside UCLA and Wake Forest. Aurilia will go first, followed by Safa, Rivera, Lape, and Nishiba.Â
