USC Women's Soccer Dominates CSUN on the Road, 2-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The USC women's soccer team scored two first half goals and dominated possession throughout the evening, taking down CSUN 2-0 on the road Thursday night.
The Trojans got strikes from Nicole Payne and Simone Jackson in the waning moments of the first period and then rode a dominant defensive performance to victory. USC improves to 3-1 on the year with their third straight clean sheet.
Jackson fed Payne for the first goal of the night in the 36th minute, and then Jackson scored herself less than five minutes later.
The USC defense held CSUN to just four shots in the game and none on target. The Trojans put up 22 shots and had 12 on frame. USC also used 20 players in the match.
GOALS
36' – USC: Nicole Payne (assisted by Simone Jackson) – Jackson played a ball in from the right side and Payne was there to knock it home deep inside the six-yard box.
41' – USC: Simone Jackson (assisted by Helena Sampaio) – Sampaio played a ball forward up the right side and Jackson carried it into the box and fired home a shot inside the far post.
