USC’s Massimo Di Martire Collects His Fourth MPSF Men’s Water Polo Newcomer of the Week Award

He pumped in four goals for the Trojans in an important win over Stanford.
USC grad student Massimo Di Martire played a key role in the Trojans' offensive explosion against Stanford last weekend, and has deservedly snagged his fourth selection this season as the MPSF West Newcomer of the Week.
Di Martire scored four goals and added two assists in USC's 19-14 comeback win over Stanford. His first three goals pulled USC back to tie the Cardinal. His first assist helped tie it again at 10-10 in the third, and he'd add another assist and his fourth goal during the fourth frame as USC pressed ahead of the Cardinal for the MPSF win.
USC's 19 goals was the most ever scored against the Cardinal on record, and the win helped the Trojans improve to 15-5 overall and 1-1 in MPSF play. Di Martire leads USC in scoring this season with 46 goals.
USC has now captured six MPSF Newcomer of the Week awards this season, with Di Martire claiming four of those and Eric Hubner (Sept. 19) and Andrej Grgurevic (Oct. 3) also earning an honor apiece.
This weekend for Homecoming, USC has two alumni games on tap, with the USC women playing at 2 p.m. before the men hit the water at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 5) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
