USC’s Massimo Di Martire Earns Third MPSF Men’s Water Polo Newcomer of the Week Award

USC grad student Massimo Di Martire extends the Trojans' run of MPSF West Newcomer of the Week winners to five straight weeks as he picks up his third honor in that stretch. The USC and MPSF scoring leader this season, Di Martire put forth another impressive effort to help pace USC to its ninth straight home victory last weekend.

Di Martire was 2-for-2 shooting and added two assists and a steal in USC's 18-7 win over San José State on Saturday. Both his goals and one assist came in the first period of play during a three-goal USC scoring rally to take the lead for good against the Spartans.

Di Martire now boasts three MPSF Newcomer of the Week honors in his first season as a Trojan. He's been joined by USC freshman Andrej Grgurevic (Oct. 3) and redshirt freshman Eric Hubner (Sept. 19) as winners of the award during USC's current five-week streak of selections.

Di Martire and the Trojans now turn to tackle their first MPSF matchup of the season this week with a trip to Berkeley to take on California at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 15).
