USC Track & Field Lands Prized Hammer-Throw Recruit Nikolas Polychroniou

Led all U18 world hammer throwers in 2020
The USC track and field program has added 2020 U18 world-leader in the hammer throw Nikolas Polychroniou to its recruiting class for 2021 it was announced by Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert today (April 6).
Polychroniou, a 17-year-old from Greece, led all of the world's under-18 hammer throwers in 2020 with a mark of 260-10 (79.52m) in the 5K hammer. That mark was achieved at the Throws Festival in Tripoli, Greece and was over two meters farther than the next best mark in the world during the 2020 season. He also had throw of 260-1 (79.28m) and 258-8 (78.84m) during the season.
Polychroniou also has a 6K hammer throw best of 221-6 (67.52m) which he had in placing fourth at the Greek U20 Championships in Ioannina, Greece on Aug. 1, 2020.
