Penelope Hocking's Brace Leads No. 13 USC Women's Soccer Past Oregon State
March 05, 2021 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – Penelope Hocking scored twice and the Trojan defense kept a clean sheet as the No. 13 USC women's soccer team beat Oregon State 2-0 at home on Friday afternoon.
The Trojans move to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Pac-12 play with the win. Oregon State falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
Hocking netted a goal in the 19th minute after Tara McKeown stole a clearance attempt from the Beavers' keeper and knocked it over to her inside the penalty area. Hocking's second goal came late in the second half when Lily Perryman sent a long pass ahead the junior forward got in behind the Oregon State defense.
The Trojans limited the visiting Beavers to eight shots and just one on goal in the game. USC put eight of their 13 shots on target and would have had a couple more goals early in the second half if it weren't for two brilliant saves by OSU's Bridgette Skiba.
