Trojan Outreach Celebrates Young Fan's Health Milestone
May 07, 2020 | Trojan Outreach, Features
During the football season, Trojan Outreach's Trojan Wish program gives a deserving young USC fan a VIP experience at every home game.
Last season, Trojan Outreach made a special exception for a boy named Noah Barbarena. Noah was battling Ewing Sarcoma, and his chemotherapy was so physically taxing that he was unable to attend USC's upset of Utah in person.
Since he couldn't be in the Coliseum that night, Trojan Outreach surprised Noah by dropping by his home to watch the game on TV with him. They also surprised the family with USC shirts and hats, and gave Noah a Traveler stuffed animal. Noah's father said his son has never forgotten about this day, which was made truly special just for him.
On Friday, May 1, Noah's father reached out to Trojan Outreach to share that Noah's doctor announced that this Wednesday, May 6, he would be having his last chemotherapy session and be officially discharged from the hospital.
When they told Noah the news of his discharge, the doctor asked him what he was going to do now that he only had one more treatment left. Noah looked to his dad and responded, "Does this mean we can go to the USC games now?!"
In order to celebrate this wonderful milestone in Noah's health, Trojan Outreach intern Flor Romero decorated her car with a homemade sign and participated in a drive-by celebration past the Barbarena house.
