USC Track And Field Opens 2020 Outdoor Season At Beach Opener

The hammer throw and javelin competitions will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, with the remainder of the meet beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
There are 24 schools invited to the Beach Opener, including 7 NCAA Division 1 squads: USC, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, Army, Pepperdine, CS Bakersfield and Loyola Marymount. Other schools competing from the NCAA Division II, NAIA and community college level are Azusa Pacific, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona, Biola, Westcliff, Cerritos College, College of the Canyons, Cuyamaca College, El Camino College, Glendale College, Golden West College, Long Beach City College, Moorpark College, Mt. San Antonio College, Orange Coast College, San Diego Mesa College and West Los Angeles College.
With some of the USC team training through this week for the NCAA Indoor Championships next week (March 13-14) in Albuquerque, N.M., the Trojans will send 38 athletes to Long Beach to begin the 2020 outdoor campaign.
USC's women's team was the NCAA outdoor runnerup in 2020, while the men were tied for 37th.
