Three Trojans are on the MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete list, with five earning ACWPC honors.
Three Trojans have landed their first MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete selections thanks to strong GPAs at the close of the 2019 season. Hannes Daube, Alexander Lansill and Sam Slobodien all boast GPAs over 3.0 as they come off a run to the NCAA Semifinals this past season.
Senior Sam Slobodien caps off his USC career with his first Scholar-Athlete award, finishing out his communication degree while gripping a 3.01 GPA. Now eligible for MPSF academic honors, sophomores Daube and Lansill made the grade with GPAs of 3.2 and 3.24, respectively. Daube is majoring in economics, and Lansill is a business major.
To be eligible for MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors, athletes must have a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at their institution prior to the season for which the award is received, and have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's competition.
Also rolled out this week were the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches' All-Academic honors, which go to any player who competed in 2019 with at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA. That secures Lansill with his second set of academic accolades from the ACWPC, while he has been joined by four newcomers to the honor roll. Daube collects his first spot on the list, as do Matt Harrison, Marcus Longton and Bennett Winther.
