Benjamin Earns A Silver Medal In Hurdles At The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships

Brown & De Grasse advance to 200m final, Annelus, Gaither & Ellis to event semifinals
Rai Benjamin earned a silver medal in the men's 400m hurdles, Angie Annelus and Tynia Gaither advanced to the women's 200m semifinal, Andre De Grasse and Aaron Brown advanced to the men's 200m final and Kendal Ellis advanced to the women's 400m semifinal at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar today (Sept. 30).
Running at his first World Championships, Benjamin earned a silver medal with a time of 47.66 in the men's 400m hurdles final. Karsten Warholm of Norway won his second consecutive world title in the event by edging Benjamin today with a winning time of 47.42.
Annelus won the sixth women's 200m prelims heat with a time of 22.56 (-0.1) to advance to the semifinal tomorrow with the third-fastest qualifying time. Gaither took third in the fourth heat with a season-best time of 22.57 (-0.3) to also automatically advance. She had the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
De Grasse won his men's 200m semifinal heat with a time of 20.08 (-0.1) to automatically advance to tomorrow's final. Brown took third in the first men's 200m semifinal heat and had to await the results of the other sections. When all three heats were completed, he had earned the final non-automatic qualifying spot and had the seventh-fastest qualifying time. De Grasse advances with the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
Ellis placed fifth in the fourth preliminary round heat of the women's 400m with a time of 51.82 and had to await the result to see if she had advanced. When all of the heats were completed, Ellis advance 20th overall on time to the semifinal tomorrow.
