Felix Wins Gold For USA At The World Athletics Championships

Gaither 13th in W-100m, Brown & De Grasse advance to M-200m semis
Allyson Felix won a gold medal and was part of a world record in the mixed 4x400m relay, Andre De Grasse and Aaron Brown advanced to the men's 200m semifinals and Tynia Gaither placed 13th in the women's 100m at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar today (Sept. 29).Â
Felix ran the second leg on USA's 4x400m mixed relay which won with a world record-time of 3:09.34. Felix won her 12th World Championships gold medal to pass Usain Bolt for most gold medals won at the World Championships. It also pushed her total medal count in the Olympics and World Championships to 26, more than any other track and field athlete in history.
Andre De Grasse and Aaron Brown both easily advanced out of the men's 200m dash heats by winning their sections. De Grasse won the sixth heat with a time of 20.20 (+0.9) to automatically advance, just after Brown won the fifth heat with a time of 20.10 (+1.0). Brown was third among the qualifiers for tomorrow's semifinal and De Grasse was seventh.
Tynia Gaither had a time of 11.20 (+0.8) to finish fifth in the first women's 100m semifinal and 13th overall. She is expected to compete in the women's 200m first round tomorrow, along with current USC senior Angie Annelus.
