Jacob Mercep Named MPSF Player of the Week

The junior laced in five goals to help USC beat Long Beach State last week.
In USC's home opener last week, junior Jacob Mercep matched his Trojan career high with five goals scored to help USC beat visiting Long Beach State 13-6. For his high-scoring efforts, Mercep has been named the MPSF Player of the Week.
It's Mercep's second career honor as the MPSF Player of the Week, following an October 15 selection last year in his debut season with the Trojans. En route to this week's honors, Mercep had two goals by halftime in USC's home opener vs. Long Beach State, and then poured out three more in the second half to help propel the Trojans along to victory. Mercep also added two assists and had a steal for USC in the victory. The five-goal outburst matched Mercep's career best as a Trojan, marking his fourth five-goal game at USC.
Mercep and the Trojans now turn to battle at the Mountain Pacific Invitational, running Sept. 27-29 at LMU and UCLA.
