Anna Smith Named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week
September 10, 2019 | Women's Soccer, Features
LOS ANGELES – After notching the first two shutouts of her career, USC women's soccer goalkeeper Anna Smith was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week.
Smith led the Trojans to a 3-0 win over Northern Arizona and then a 2-0 win over Nebraska in her third and fourth career starts, helping USC move to 6-0 on the year.
She stopped a career-best six shots against Nebraska and played all 180 minutes on the week. After taking over in goal last week, the sophomore keeper is now 4-0 as the Trojans' starter and is second in the Pac-12 with 18 saves. It is her first weekly award and the second of the season for USC after the Trojans' Tara McKeown was named Offensive Player of the Week last week.
The shutout against Northern Arizona was the only time so far this season the Lumberjacks have been held scoreless.
USC hits the road this week, heading north to take on Seattle University on Friday.
