USC Men Earn No. 1 Preseason National Ranking

Last year’s champs set up defense of their title with a stockpile of All-Americans on the roster.
The USC men's water polo team will set up defense of last year's NCAA title as the nation's top-ranked team for 2019. Selected No. 1 in the preseason national rankings, the 2019 Trojans have considerable talent at the ready once again. Of the program-record 10 All-Americans named in 2018, only one graduated, leaving the Trojans with an arsenal of All-American talent for this 2019 campaign.
Top scorers from last season Jacob Mercep and Hannes Daube are back for their second season as Trojans, having combined for 120 goals in 2018, while goalie Nic Porter also sets up for his second stint in the cage for USC. The Trojans graduated just two players from last year's title-winning team, making top-ranked USC a formidable group for 2019.
First on the docket for the Trojans in 2019 are Alumni Games coming up on Sept. 7 at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. USC's first official action for the year will see the Trojans head to the Inland Empire Classic Sept. 14-15, and then USC turns to host its home opener on Sept. 19 against Long Beach State.
