Four Trojans Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Cockrell, Jones, Katnik & Terry recognized for athletic and academic achievements
Anna Cockrell, Margaux Jones, Matthew Katnik and Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry earned 2019 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors it was announced on July 22. To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have ranked in the national top 96 in an individual indoor event or have competed in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Cockrell, from Charlotte, N.C., earned her undergraduate degree in Communication with a minor in Political Science in three years with a 3.98 grade-point average (GPA). Cockrell won the 2019 NCAA 400m hurdles title with a time of 55.23 and placed fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.80 (+0.6). The junior also ran on USC's 4x400m relay which scored at the NCAA Championships and she scored a total of 14.25 points individually, the fifth-most among all athletes at the competition. This season Cockrell also won her second consecutive Pac-12 400m hurdles title and placed second in the 100m hurdles. Cockrell now ranks third on USC's all-time 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles lists as she had a PR of 12.69 (+2.0) in the NCAA 100m hurdles semifinal. Her freshman record of 55.14 still holds third place on USC's all-time list.
Jones, from Redlands, Calif., graduated with a 3.65 GPA in Art History/Pre-Med this spring. Jones was seventh in the long jump at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships and second at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds to advance to the NCAA Championships in the event where she earned honorable mention All-America honors. The senior had a wind-aided best long jump in 2019 of 21-0.00 (6.40m). Jones also took second in the long jump at the MPSF Indoor Championships and finished 11th at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the event. Jones owns USC's indoor record in the women's long jump at 21-0.50 (6.41m) and ranks eighth on its all-time outdoor list with a jump of 20-10.75 (6.37m).
Katnik, from Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., graduated with a 3.38 GPA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The redshirt junior earned All-America honors in the shot put during both the NCAA indoor and outdoor seasons. Katnik placed sixth in the shot put at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a mark of 64-5.75 (19.65m) and seventh at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships with a mark of 64-7.25 (19.69m). Katnik ranks second on USC's all-time indoor shot put list with a mark of 64-9.75 (19.75m) and fifth on the Trojans' all-time outdoor shot put list with a mark of 64-6.50 (19.67m).
Terry, from Miami, Fla., has a 3.81 GPA in Communication and was named to the women's third team. The sophomore Terry broke her school record and finished third in the 100m dash at the NCAA Championships with a time of 10.98 (+1.6). She also finished 16th in the 200m dash at the NCAA Championships and anchored USC's 4x100m relay team to a title with a school-record time of 42.21. Terry won her second consecutive Pac-12 100m title with a time of 11.09 (+0.5) , placed third in the 200m with a time of 23.28 (+0.1) and anchored the winning 4x100m relay which had a time of 42.45 at the Conference meet on May 12.
