Brissett & Annelus Named To The Bowerman Semifinalist List

USC All-Americans up for top women's track athlete award
USC sophomore Chanel Brissett and redshirt junior Angie Annelus were named to The Bowerman Semifinalist List, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today (June 12). The Bowerman is awarded annually at the end of the track and field season to the most outstanding track and field athlete. Brissett and Annelus are the fifth pair of women teammates to be semifinalists for the award.
Brissett finished second at the NCAA Championships in the 100m hurdles on June 8 with a PR of 12.52 (+0.6) which along with winner broke the facility record. Her time is tied for the fourth-fastest ever run in the NCAA finals and moved her into second on USC's all-time list. Brissett won the Pac-12 100m hurdles title on May 12 with a time of 12.70 (+0.7), her second consecutive Conference title in the event. Brissett also ran the lead-off leg for USC's winning 4x100m relay at the NCAA Championships which won with a school-record and NCAA finals-record time of 42.21. Their time also set the facility record and is the world-leading time so far this season.
During the indoor season, Brissett won both the MPSF (8.04) and the NCAA Indoor 60m hurdles titles (7.90). Her 7.90 to win the NCAA Indoor title moved her to second on USC's all-time indoor list in the 60m hurdles.
Annelus became a two-time NCAA 200m champion when she won the title with a PR, USC and facility record and world-leading time of 22.16 (+1.3) on June 8. She became just the fourth woman to win the NCAA women's 200m title in consecutive seasons. Annelus also placed seventh in the 100m dash finals with a time of 11.12 (+1.6). Annelus got the stick from Brissett for the second leg of USC's NCAA Champion 4x100m relay time which ran the school-record time of 42.21. Annelus scored 14.5 points at the NCAA Championships, the fourth-most of any athlete at the Championships.
Annelus won the Pac-12 200m title on May 12 with a time of 22.71 (+0.1) and placed second in the 100m dash final at the Conference meet with a time of 11.17 (+0.5). She and Brissett also ran on USC's winning 4x100m relay. During the indoor season, Annelus won the MPSF 60m dash title with a PR of 7.29 and placed 13th in the 200m at the NCAA Championships with a time of 23.46.
The three finalists for The Bowerman will be named on June 19 and the winner will be awarded on December 19 at the USTFCCCA Convention in Orlando, Fla..
