Smith Gilbert Named USTFCCCA West Region Women's Coach Of The Year

USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert was named West Region Women's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today (May 31). It is the fourth time in six seasons that Smith Gilbert has won the West Region Women's Coach of the Year Award.
Smith Gilbert has guided the USC women's team to a No. 2 ranking entering the NCAA Championships next week. The Trojans won their second consecutive Pac-12 team title by winning seven of the 21 events, including finishing 1-2-3 in three events. She has USC athletes qualified to compete in 13 events at the NCAA Championships as the Trojans look to defend their 2018 National title. Her athletes posted 18 school all-time top 10 marks, including setting the USC 4x100m relay record of 42.44 at the Pac-12 Championships. Smith Gilbert was named Pac-12 Women's Coach of the Year earlier this season.
