Gabriela Ruffels Named To International Arnold Palmer Cup Team

Sophomore will join teammates Jennifer Chang, Malia Nam at event.
Trojan sophomore Gabriela Ruffels, a day away from teeing off in the 2019 U.S. Women's Open, was named to the International Arnold Palmer Cup team Wednesday (May 29).
The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 7-9 at The Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas. Ruffels replaced Albane Valenzuela.
Ruffels, a native of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, and a 2019 WGCA All-American second teamer, finished fourth on the team with a 72.73 stroke average with five top 10s and eight top 16 results this season. She posted her first collegiate victory at the Windy City Collegiate.
Ruffels came close to her second victory and a share of the Pac-12 crown, finishing third at the conference tournament, one stroke back of a playoff and earned All-Pac-12 first team honors. The sophomore also finished in the top-20 at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
She joins teammates Jennifer Chang and Malia Nam, who will be competing for the U.S. team. Chang is also competing in the U.S. Open this week.
