USC had nine individuals and the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays qualify for the NCAA Track & Field Championships during the final day of the 2019 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds held at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif. today (May 25). - Matthew Katnik got the day started right for the Trojans by qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the men's shot put. He opened with a foul, then a throw of 61-0 (18.59m) and was in 15th before his final throw. He responded with a clutch throw of 62-8.50 (19.11m) to move into 10th, but there were 10 throwers remaining. When all the throws were completed he finished 12th and earned the final spot to Nationals.
- Earnest Sears III made it seem easy in the high jump, passing at 6-7 and 6-9, then clearing 6-11 (2.11m) and 7-1 (2.16m) in his first attempts. Only nine jumpers cleared 7-1, so after taking just two jumps, Sears was through to the NCAA Championships in the event. He took the fewest jumps of anyone in the competition.
- USC's women's 4x100m relay team of Chanel Brissett, Angie Annelus, Lanae-Tava Thomas and TeeTee Terry were the first Trojans to compete on the track. Mecca McGlaston then was near the lead midway through the final 100m hurdles heat, but clipped a hurdle and went down. She got back up and walk over the rest of the hurdles to record a time of 39.99.
- Marquis Morris took third in the second men's 110m hurdles quarterfinal with a time of 13.83 (+0.1) to automatically advance. His time ended up being eighth overall. Omotade Ojora placed fifth in the final 110m hurdles quarterfinal with a time of 13.99 (+0.5) and finished tied for 14th overall.
