Women of Troy Fall In NCAA Semifinals

USC's pair of Angela Kulikov and Rianna Valdes fell to UCLA's No. 5 Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield 6-4, 6-4 in the NCAA Doubles Semifinals today (May 24) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

In the first set, the Bruins went up 3-0, but the Trojans responded by winning the next two games to close the gap at 2-3. Andrews/Broomfield battled it out with the Trojan duo, but held onto their grip of the set and won 6-4.

In the second set, the Bruins held a 3-2 lead, but the Trojans tied it back up at 3-3. After another tie at 4-4, UCLA held onto the momentum and went on to win the second set and the match.

The Trojan duo finishes the season with an impressive 29-7 record. They defeated 16 nationally ranked teams this season, including eight in the Top 20. They had a season high ranking of No. 1 and entered the NCAA Doubles Tournament as the top seed in the tournament.
