STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (18-4) improved to 5-0 all-time against the Cardinal on a 4-1 win over No. 19 Stanford (9-11) in the Pac-12 North Invitational at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium on Saturday, April 6.
 
The win moved the Women of Troy to 2-0 on the day following a 5-0 win over California earlier in the day.
 
The Trojans got the first dual point of the day when senior Abril Bustamante and sophomore Tina Graudina earned a 21-16, 21-15 win over Tori Ashkinos and Charlie Ekstrom at the No. 1 position. The Cardinal fired back to even the score when its No. 2 pair of Morgan Hentz and Sunny Villapando upended senior Terese Cannon and sophomore Sammy Slater, 21-19, 21-13.
 
USC moved ahead again, 2-1, with a win at the No. 3 position. There, sophomore Haley Hallgren and senior Alexandra Poletto took a 21-15, 21-16 win over Maddie Dailey and Amelia Smith. At the fourth court, junior Joy Dennis and sophomore Maja Kaiser delivered the clinching point with a 21-17, 21-11 win over Shannon Richardson and Blake Sharp.
 
Freshmen Laurel Kujan and Hannah Martin sewed up the fourth USC point with their 21-16, 21-18 win at the No. 5 position over Kat Anderson and Chelsea Red-Horse Mohl.
 
USC is back in action against No. 1 UCLA (25-0) at 9 a.m. PT tomorrow (April 7) and then concludes the tournament with a meeting against Washington (6-8) at 11 a.m. The Trojans return home to host Long Beach State and Pepperdine on Thursday, April 11, at Merle Norman Stadium.
