Women of Troy Advance to Semifinals of Pac-12 Championships with 4-1 Win Over Cal

OJAI, CALIF.--The No. 4 seeded USC women's tennis successfully defeated the No. 5 seed California 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Championships today (April 25) in Ojai, Calif. With the win, the Trojans improve to 18-6 overall on the season and will advance to the semifinal round where they will challenge the winner of No. 1 seed Stanford versus No. 9 Washington State tomorrow (April 26) at 12 p.m. PT.
To begin doubles, Cal's No. 88 ranked pair Hauger/Stloukalova defeated USC's Branstine/Jaeger 6-1 on court three. Over on court one, the No. 2 ranked Trojan tandem of Kulikov/Valdes defeated Cal's No. 17 ranked Mraz/Rosenqvist 6-4 to even out the score. All eyes were now on court two as USC's Weissmann/Willson competed against Cal's No. 40 ranked Bright/Dunk. The Trojans were up 5-4, but then fell to a 5-6 deficit as the Golden Bears took over the lead. Weissmann/Willson battled back to force a tiebreak and were able to win the set 7-6 (4) to clinch the doubles point for Troy.
USC led 1-0 entering singles. Golden Bear Ana Bright got vengeance for her doubles loss after she beat USC's Rianna Valdes 6-1, 6-1 on court four to tie up the overall score at 1-1.
On court two, USC's No. 105 ranked Angela Kulikov defeated No. 47 ranked golden Bear Olivia Hauger 6-2, 6-0 and Trojan Ana Neffa put a third point on the board for the Women of Troy with her 6-1, 6-4 victory over Cal's Katerina Stloukalova.
USC's Danielle Willson win a close first set 7-6 (4) on court six over Cal's Hana Mraz. Willson came back to win a dominant second set 6-1 to clinch the match for the Women of Troy.
