Women of Troy Defeat Cal State Fullerton

The No. 11 ranked USC women's tennis team defeated Cal State Fullerton 5-2 in a non-conference match on Tuesday (April 2) at Marks Stadium in Los Angeles. The win improves USC's season record to 14-3.
The Women of Troy came out hot in doubles as every Trojan pair held a strong lead. Court three was the first to finish as USC's Branstine/Neffa defeated Fullerton's Meng/Tobrand 6-0. Shortly after, the Trojan tandem of Ewing/Willson beat the Titan duo of Emery/Makiba 6-0 on court two to lock down the doubles point for USC.
During singles play, Trojan Constance Branstine retired due to injury to notch a point on the board for the Titans.
On court six, USC's Sydney Van Alphen was the first to complete her match with a strong 6-1, 6-1 victory over Fullerton's Eria Tobrand on court six. Rolling with the positive momentum, Trojan No. 87 Angela Kulikov was victorious over her Titan opponent, Sarah Nuno with a 6-1, 6-3 score. This win pushed USC ahead 3-1 overall in the match.
The Titans hadn't given up yet as Fullerton's Genevieve Zeidan beat USC's No. 123 Ana Neffa 6-4, 6-3.
USC's No. 43 Salma Ewing displayed a strong performance for the Women of Troy by beating Karla Portalatin 7-5, 6-2 on court one to clinch the overall match for the Women of Troy.
In the final match of the day, Trojan No. 122 Danielle Willson defeated Fullerton's Caisey Lee Emery 6-4 6-2 to put the last point on the board for USC.
Up next, USC will host Colorado on Friday (April 5) at 12:30 p.m. PT and Utah on Saturday (April 6) at 12 p.m. PT.
