The Trojans finished off a strong week of practice in front of a large crowd, continuing to implement new offensive and defensive schemes.
- USC Head Coach Clay Helton opened his comments by welcoming USC's President elect Dr. Carol Folt to the Trojan family. He is excited to see all of the great things she will do for the university. Additionally, Helton thanked interim President Wanda Austin for her work and dedication throughout her term.
- Helton lauded today's practice for its competitive atmosphere and speed. He noted that today was a great learning experience for the team on how fast this offense goes and how that requires quick communication. Helton urged the team, "You better get ready for the next play because it's coming."
- Redshirt freshman tailback Markese Stepp shined in today's scrimmage. "When you get into those live periods, you see his value…He had a great day today," Helton said.
- Helton is excited about the conditioning and physical shape that the Trojan quarterbacks are in this spring. Sophomore quarterback JT Daniels, redshirt junior quarterback Matt Fink, and redshirt sophomore quarterback Jack Sears have all improved their core strength and are ready for the speed of the offense.
- Junior tailback Stephen Carr and redshirt junior tailback Vavae Malepeai returned to practice today after suffering from flu like symptoms.
- Helton made a point of acknowledging the work of reporter Joey Kaufman, who is leaving his position as the USC Football beat writer for the Southern California News Group. Helton applauded his work and made sure Kaufman asked the last question of the press conference.
- USC's next spring practice is March 26th at 3:15 pm on Howard Jones Field.
