Washington Beats USC, 4-3, on Sac Fly in 10th
March 23, 2019 | Baseball, Features
SEATTLE, Wash. – The USC baseball team fell 4-3 in 10 innings to Washington on Saturday afternoon, losing on a sacrifice fly in extra innings.
The loss drops the Trojans to 8-13 on the season and 2-3 in Pac-12 play. Washington moves to 13-5 overall and 4-1 Pac-12.
In a back-and-forth contest, USC erased a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth on singles by Chase Bushor and Jamal O'Guinn. The Trojan lead would last until the bottom of the seventh when a pair of errors gave Washington two runs and a 3-2 lead.
USC wasn't done, however, tying the game up with a two-out single up the middle by Ben Ramirez. After Chris Clarke got a strikeout to end the ninth inning and strand a runner on second, Ramirez nearly was the hero again, hitting a deep fly to right center that was caught on a dive by Washington outfielder Kaiser Weiss.
The Huskies would load the bases and Braden Ward hit a sacrifice fly to center to end the game in the 10th.
