LOS ANGELES – The United Soccer Coaches released its All-Region teams this week and USC women's soccer players Ashleigh Plumptre, Tara McKeown and Penelope Hocking were all named to the Pacific Region first team.
It is the second year in a row that the Trojans have had at least three players make the first team, marking the only two years in program history that that has happened. Plumptre and McKeown are first-time All-Region honorees, while Hocking was named to the second team last year.
Plumptre, a senior defender, switched to central defender after playing outside back last year and in the midfield earlier in her career. She has been the heart of the Trojan defense all year, helping the team to nine shutouts this season and a 1.15 goals against average. Also a contributor on the offensive end, Plumptre scored one goal when she netted the game-winner on the road against Oregon State, and has also posted two assists. She was named to the All-Pac-12 second team as well.
McKeown also moved positions this season, transitioning to forward after playing as both an outside back and midfielder during her career, and has since flourished. She finished this season with 38 total points, which is the fourth best total in program history, scoring 15 goals (third most in program history) and notching eight assists (14th in program history). McKeown is third in the Pac-12 in goals scored and tied for seventh in assists. She was named Pac-12 Forward of the Year, and to the All-Conference first team.
Hocking continued her remarkable run through her first two collegiate seasons, posting a team-high 43 points on 18 goals and seven assists. Her 43 points are the second most in the Pac-12 this year and are tied for the second most in a season in program history. Hocking's 18 goals are also second in both categories, giving her the second and fourth highest scoring seasons in program history (14 goals in 2018) over the course of her first two years at USC. Her seven game-winning goals led the Trojans this season and her seven assists were third on the team. Hocking was named to the All-Pac-12 first team as well.
