McKeown and Martin Earn Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Honors

LOS ANGELES – Top Drawer Soccer released its 2019 Best XI teams and USC's Tara McKeown garnered first-team honors, while Kaylin Martin was named to the Freshman Best XI second team.
For McKeown, it is her second All-American (equivalent to Best XI) selection this season after she was also named to the United Soccer Coaches first team. The redshirt freshman Martin earns her first Freshman All-American/Best XI honor after being named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team earlier this year.
McKeown finished this season with 38 total points, which is the fourth best total in program history, scoring 15 goals (third most in program history) and notching eight assists (14th in program history). She ended the season fourth in the Pac-12 in goals scored and tied for eighth in assists, while also finishing 18th in the country with 1.81 points per game. In addition to her All-American/Best XI honors, McKeown was named Pac-12 Forward of the Year, and to the All-Conference first team.
In its history, USC now has a total of 23 All-American/Best XI selections. The Trojans have had multiple All-Americans three of the last four seasons, including two of the program's five first-team selections.
Martin had a breakout year during her redshirt-freshman campaign, stepping into the outside back role as both a starter and reserve for the Trojans. She appeared in 17 games and made 13 starts, helping the Trojans to eight shutouts while also posting three points on the year. Martin scored the game-winner in the final minute at Arizona State and posted an assist against Arizona to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week.
Martin's selection gives USC 13 Freshman All-American/Best XI selections in its history and makes it three straight years the Trojans have had a Freshman All-American. Penelope Hocking was named to Top Drawer Soccer's freshman first team last year and Savannah DeMelo took freshman first team honors in 2017.
