Jacob Mercep Scores Another MPSF Player of the Week Pick

USC junior led the way with seven goals in a winning weekend for the Trojans.
Jacob Mercep delivered a team-high seven goals with five assists across two USC wins last week. For his high-powered efforts, the junior has scored his second MPSF Player of the Week award this season. It's Mercep's third overall MPSF Player of the Week selection as a Trojan after a win last year.
Against No. 13 UC Irvine, Mercep had four goals and three assists in a 16-10 win. The next day at No. 4 UC Santa Barbara, Mercep led the No. 5 Trojans in scoring again with a hat trick to beat the Gauchos 10-9 on the road. Mercep also added two assists and had a steal in the key victory over UCSB. Mercep's seven-goal weekend bumps his season tally to 30 goals. The Trojans, meanwhile, are now 9-2 overall.
Mercep and the Trojans now turn to another road trip, where USC looks to avenge its only other loss of the year. The Trojans visit Pacific at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 12) in Stockton, Calif.
