USC's Eryn Cayetano and Danielle Willson Reach Semifinals of ITA Southwest Regional Championships

Trojan doubles pair Eryn Cayetano/Danielle Willson reached the semifinals of the 2019 ITA Southwest Regional Championships today (Oct. 20). In the singles competition, sophomore Salma Ewing made a strong run as she reached the quarterfinals.
After having a bye in the Round of 64, the Trojan duo defeated Hawaii's Kim/Melounova 8-5 to advance to the Round of 16. From there, the USC pair took down UCSB's Khatmova/Paterova 8-1 and then beat San Diego State's Melosch/Nadozie 8-5 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal match, the Trojans faced off against the Bruins, but UCLA's Altick/Johnson defeated Cayetano/Willson 6-4, 6-2.
In singles, Ewing's run began in the Round of 64 after having a bye in the Round of 32. She defeated Arizona's Gitte Heynemans 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the Round of 32 where she then beat UC Santa Barbara's Juliana Valero 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. After moving past San Diego's Katharina Kukaras in the Round of 16, Ewing fell to Abbey Forbes 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
USC's Danielle Willson also made a run in the singles bracket by reaching the Round of 16.
