All 8 USC runners post personal or season-best times
Every USC women's cross country runner set a personal best or had a season-best time as the Trojans placed seventh at the Highlander Invitational (6K) held on the UCR Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside, Calif. today (Oct. 19).
Sophomore Alyssa Brewer led the way for the Trojans with a 6K PR of 21.58.9 to finish 25th overall (24th in scoring). Brewer shaved nearly a minute off her time on the same course just over a month ago at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Right behind Brewer in 30th place (28th in scoring) was senior Chloe Berry with a season-best time of 22:01.2. Her time was less than six seconds off her 6K PR set in 2017 at the Pac-12 Championships.
Senior Kamryn Weber was the third Trojan finisher and she placed 45th (43rd in scoring) by exactly matching her PR of 22:27.0 set on this same course on Sept. 14. Finishing 46th overall (44th in scoring) with a PR of 22:27.2 was sophomore Jemima Russell. Russell had a time of 23:31.7 on this same course a month ago, which at the time was her 6K PR.
Making her Trojan debut and posting a PR as well, was freshman Patty Haggerty who had a time of 23:18.6 to finish 88th (76th in scoring). She was the final runner who figured in USC's team scoring.
Also posting 6K PRs today for the Trojans were junior Sydney Tullai with a time of 23:21.6 (94th), sophomore Brynn Sauer with a time of 24:13.5 (120th) and sophomore Abygail Paez with a time of 25:16.2 (158th).
The Trojans appear to be peaking at the right time as the next meet will be the Pac-12 Championships to be held in Monmouth, Ore. on Nov. 1.
