Tara McKeown Earns National and Pac-12 Weekly Honors
October 15, 2019 | Women's Soccer, Features
LOS ANGELES – After leading the No. 4 USC women's soccer team to a 2-0 week with three goals and one assist, Tara McKeown was named both Top Drawer Soccer National and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior forward had a hand in all four of the Trojans' goals as USC beat both Utah and Colorado 2-1 at home on the week. It is the second weekly honor of the season for McKeown, who also picked up the National and Pac-12 award back on Sept. 3.
McKeown scored both goals in the victory over Utah, getting her second in overtime on a free kick that she bended around the wall. Against the Buffaloes, McKeown assisted Penelope Hocking for the first goal and then scored the game-winner on a header in the 57th minute.
The stellar week continues a remarkable season for McKeown, as she currently has 12 goals and seven assists to lead the Trojans in both categories. Her 12 goals are second in the Pac-12 and sixth in the nation, and her 31 total points are fifth in the country and second in the conference. Her goal total is already tied for the fifth most in a season in program history and her 31 points is the seventh best total ever by a Trojan.
McKeown will lead the second-place Trojans north this week as USC takes on Cal on Friday.
