De Grasse Wins 200m Silver & Iuel Sets NR In 400m Hurdles; Annelus & Gaither Advance to 200m Final

Another big day for the Trojans at the 2019 IAAF World Championships
Andre De Grasse won a silver medal in the men's 200m, Amalie Iuel set a Norwegian record while advancing to the women's semifinal in the 400m hurdles along with Dalilah Muhammad, and Angie Annelus and Tynia Gaither advanced to the women' 200m final at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar today (Oct. 1). Also, Michael Norman advanced to the men's 400m semifinals and Aaron Brown placed sixth in the men's 200m final.
De Grasse placed second in the men's 200m final with a time of 19.95 (+0.3) to earn a silver medal. It was his second medal of the World Championships, as he earned a bronze medal in the men's 100m dash. Aaron Brown, who also reached the 100m final (8th), placed sixth in the 200m final with a time of 20.10 (+0.3).
Iuel won her women's 400m hurdles heat and broke her own Norwegian national record with a time of 54.72 to automatically advance to the semifinal tomorrow. Muhammad won her 400m hurdles heat with a time of 54.87 to also automatically advance. Iuel had the second-fastest and Muhammad the third-fastest qualifying times on the day.
Annelus won her women's 200m semifinal heat with a time of 22.49 (+0.4) to automatically advance to tomorrow's final. Her time was third overall among the qualifiers. Tynia Gaither took second in her semifinal heat with a time of 22.57 (+0.4) to also automatically advance to the final. Her time was sixth among the qualifiers.
Norman won his men's 400m preliminary round heat with a time of 45.00 to automatically advance to tomorrow's semifinal. His time was second among the qualifiers.
Kendall Ellis finished third in her women's 400m semifinal heat and 14th overall with a time of 51.58.
Conor McCullough had a best hammer throw today of 245-8 (74.88m) to finish 14th in the men's hammer throw. The top 12 throwers advanced to tomorrow's final.
