Kaylie Collins Named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week
September 04, 2018 | Women's Soccer, Features
LOS ANGELES – USC women's soccer goalkeeper Kaylie Collins was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week after leading the No. 4 Trojans to a pair of shutouts in Florida this past weekend.
Collins helped the Trojans to a scoreless draw with then-No. 4 Florida State last Friday and then kept No. 22 Florida out of the back of the net in a 3-0 win in Gainesville for a total of 200 scoreless minutes.
Collins made six saves against the Seminoles for her second solo-shutout of the year, including a pair of diving stops to preserve the draw for an entire 110 minutes. In the game at Florida, Collins' contribution came in preventing the Gators from getting a shot on goal by snagging several crosses out of the air and coming off her line to pounce on several passes on the box.
The sophomore keeper has given up just one goal all year and owns a 0.22 goals against average, the 14th best average in the country. Her .929 save percentage is currently 13th in the NCAA.
Collins has a total of 10 shutouts on her career and a 0.78 goals against average. It is her first weekly award.
USC returns home this week to face Missouri on Friday and then San Diego on Sunday.
