Silver Medals For Aussie Trojans At FINA World Cup

Five Trojans were in action in Berlin last week, competing for their respective countries at the FINA World Cup, with three combining forces to take a place on the medal stand. Australians Joel Dennerley, Blake Edwards and Lachlan Edwards had their Aussie squad on a path to the podium, finishing with silver medals. All three were instrumental in keying an upset of Croatia in the quarterfinals, with Dennerley making 14 saves in the cage while Lachlan scored twice and Blake added a goal to propel them into the medal rounds en route to Australia's best-ever finish at a FINA World Cup.

Also in action at the event were two more former Trojans — Tobias Preuss, who was teammates with Dennerley on USC's 2010, 2011 and 2012 NCAA Championship teams, and the Edwards brothers' fellow 2017 senior McQuin Baron. A veteran of the German National Team, Preuss helped the tournament hosts to a fourth-place finish. Baron, who shares the honor of Olympian and Cutino Award winner with fellow Trojan goalie Dennerley, was capped up for Team USA, which finished sixth overall.
