Terry Advances To 100m Semifinals At U20 World Championships

Owens places 12th in decathlon, Russell 13th in 800m
TeeTee Terry advanced to the women's 100m semifinals, Ayden Owens placed 12th in the decathlon and Jemima Russell 13th in the women's 800m during action at the U20 World Championships in Tampere, Finland today (July 11).
- Terry had a time of 11.37 (+0.4) to win her first-round heat in the 100m dash to advance to the semifinals tomorrow. Her qualifying time ended up third among the advancing runners.
- Owens, competing for Puerto Rico, placed 12th in the decathlon with a 10-event total of 5,606 points. Owens won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.74 (-0.3) which set the U20 Championships decathlon record. He set five PRs in the competition, but a disqualification in the 400m, in which he ran what appeared to be a PR of 48.70, wiped away 876 points and gave him zero points in the event.
- Russell, competing for Australia, took fifth in her 800m semifinal and finished 13th overall with a personal-best time of 2:04.81. She reached the semifinals by running 2:06.84 in the prelims yesterday.
