Brandon Perez Earns Gold Glove Honors

LOS ANGELES – USC junior Brandon Perez earned ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors as the best defensive third baseman in NCAA Division I this season.

It is the first such honor for Perez as he becomes the first Trojan named to the nine-player Gold Glove team since catcher Garrett Stubbs in 2015.

The versatile Perez also spent time at second base and shortstop this year, finishing the season with just two errors in 159 fielding chances, good for a stellar .987 fielding percentage. He was part of a Trojan defense that posted a .978 fielding percentage, which was 17th in the country and third in the Pac-12 this year. Perez helped turn 18 double plays and recorded a total of 53 putouts.

The junior infielder also earned All Pac-12 honorable mention in 2017 and has never committed more than five errors in a season during his three years at USC. Perez's .987 fielding percentage and two errors were both career bests.
