USC Women's Tennis Welcomes Ana Neffa

The USC women's tennis team has added a transfer to its most recent class. Transfer Ana Neffa from St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla. will join the Women of Troy in the fall, head coach Alison Swain announced today (May 17).
"Ana brings extensive competitive experience to the USC tennis program," said Swain. "Her high Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking of #483 in singles and ITF Juniors ranking of #111 are the result of her strong work ethic, passion for the game and ability. We are thrilled to welcome Ana to the Trojan Family and help her achieve her tennis and academic goals."
Neffa, who is currently not playing collegiate tennis, comes from a family of outstanding athletes. Her father, Gustavo Neffa, was a professional soccer player, and her mother, Rossana de los Ríos, was a professional tennis player. They met at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona while they were both competing in the Games for Paraguay.
Neffa who hails from Asunción, Paraguay, will enter USC as a sophomore.
Neffa began competing in ITF junior tournaments at the age of 14. She qualified and competed in the highest tier of junior tournaments including Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Neffa has a career-high ITF Junior world ranking of #111. In addition to qualifying for the most prestigious international tournaments, Neffa has won a Grade 4 ITF event and has advanced to the finals of a Grade B1 ITF Junior Tournament.
At the age of 15, Neffa began playing in professional tournaments. She achieved a career-high WTA ranking of #483 in the world. Some of her best finishes include reaching the quarterfinals and semifinals of ITF tournaments. She has claimed victories over players who have top WTA rankings of #198, #219, #169 and #268.
Ana Neffa will be ready to contribute to USC's women's tennis team in the 2018-19 season.
