USC Completes 5-0 Sweep of California to Punch Title-Match Ticket

The Women of Troy defeated the Golden Bears to earn a rematch with the Bruins for the Pac-12 title
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2-seeded USC beach volleyball team (25-11) earned a 5-0 sweep over third-seeded California (24-8) in the contender's bracket final of the 2018 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium on Saturday, April 28. The Trojans will advance to the title dual for a same-day rematch with top-seeded UCLA at 3 p.m. PT.
The Women of Troy scored the first point of the dual from court four where senior Jenna Belton and freshman Maja Kaiser defeated Mia Merino and Caroline Schafer, 21-12, 21-16. It took another three-setter, but freshman Haley Hallgren and senior Alexandra Poletto added a second point with a 21-17, 13-21, 15-10 win over Grace Campbell and Maddie Micheletti at the No. 5 position.
Senior Terese Cannon and freshman Sammy Slater delivered the clinching point at court two with a 21-7, 21-13 win over Alexia Inman and Iya Lindahl. Just a few moments later, the Trojans added a fourth point from the top court as junior Abril Bustamante and freshman Tina Graudina turned a 21-15, 21-17 win over Jessica Gaffney and Mima Mirkovic.
At the No. 3 position, sophomores Joy Dennis and Cammie Dorn went three sets with Bryce Bark and Madison Dueck to win, 21-9, 18-21, 15-6, and complete the sweep.
