Women of Troy Fall 4-2 To Arizona State in the Pac -12 Quarterfinals

LOS ANGELES -- The No. 47 Women of Troy fell 4-2 to the Arizona State Sun Devils in the quarterfinal round of the Pac-12 Championships on Thursday in Ojai, Calif. With the loss, the Trojans are now 13-10 overall on the season.
Doubles kicked off the morning with Sun Devils Tereza Kolarova/Savannah Slaysman claiming the first win defeating USC's Gabby Smith/Becca Weissmann, 6-2. USC's Constance Branstine/Madison Westby fell 6-3 to the Sun Devil pair of Nicole Fossa Huergo/Sasa Klanecek as Arizona State claimed the doubles point.
The Trojans entered singles with a one-point deficit.
The Devils continued to roll their momentum from doubles into singles. ASU's Savannah Slaysman defeated Angela Kulikov 6-3, 6-3 on court four to push the Devils ahead 2-0.
Next on court two, Rianna Valdes fell to ASU's Ilze Hattingh 6-3, 7-5. The Trojans fought hard with USC's Madison Westby claiming the first win for Troy with her 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sun Devil Sasa Klanecek. USC's Gabby Smith made sure the Trojans weren't out of the battle as she defeated ASU's Lauryn John-Baptiste 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 on court one.
Finally, Devil Nicole Fossa Huergo beat Becca Weissmann 7-6 (5), 7-5 on court three to clinch the match for ASU.
With the loss ending USC's Pac-12 Championship run, the Trojans await the outcome of the remainder of the post season. The NCAA Tennis Selection Show will air on Tuesday (May 1) at 5 p.m. ET.
